NewTV Standards Engineer

The successful candidate will be responsible for participation in standardization activities in the home consumer electronics space. The role will involve the active monitoring of standardization, building a view and influence in the standardization body(ies) and helping to transfer technology into various standards. The position involves attending standardization and monitoring remotely to build up a base of standardization expertize and influence. Since standardization does not stand alone the role will be expected to interact with technical staff members and develop sample implementations of technologies to support and transfer standardization.

This position requires candidates with a past experience in standardization and a past record of active participation, transfer or influence. Excellent proven communication skills as applies to standardization is a must. Knowledge of current and upcoming home CE standards is desirable, as is a background in technical work using Internet technologies, embedded systems, pervasive computing and networking. For prototyping a hands-on technical knowledge of Java, C and Internet technologies is required. Knowledge in distributed systems, A/V systems, network protocols, etc. is desirable.
