Senior Staff Software Engineer - Semantics / NewTV

The ideal candidate must be able to take responsibility for the application of semantic web services technologies into the NewTV home consumer electronics space. Duties include designing and developing pragmatic prototypes using current semantic technologies, working with internship students/universities to apply existing research to the consumer electronic space, monitoring ongoing research/standardization in the field, and investigating the problems of the semantic description of devices. Excellent communication and team working skills are required with a willingness to work with an international team and with universities to deliver an strong architecture as well as rapid prototypes. A computer science Masters with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in the following areas are required: semantic description languages such as RDF, DAML (-S, +OIL) or OWL, web service middlewares (SOAP, WSDL), XML, Java, and distributed systems architecture. In addition, experience or a keen interest in consumer electronics, home networking, knowledge systems (prolog, expert systems), C++ and an R&D background is an advantage.
