The Hard Disk drive group of Samsung Information Systems of America is delivering innovative, award winning, next generation storage technology and looking for a Senior Staff Engineer! The candidate will work with head and media suppliers and with drive integration team to define characteristics of head/media mechanical interface. This person will also perform preliminary failure analysis on head/disk related failures in drives. The candidate must have 10 years plus experience in understanding head/disk interface in hard disk drives. Must have in depth knowledge of state of the art metrology equipment to characterize chemical, physical and metallurgical properties of the interface. Must have a minimum of 3 / 5 years hands on experience in enhancing head/media interface reliability. Experience with sub 10 nm fly height will be highly desirable. Analytical skills with quick problem solving capabilities are a must. In addition, the candidate must possess at minimum a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or similar field.
